My Definitive Cut, 2009

My Definitive Cut is an annual list recognizing the top ten films and five best directors of each cinematic year. This year (01-Jan-2009 to 14-Mar-2010) I have reviewed 71 theatrically-released films and have narrowed them down to 21 nominees.

This is a 2.1% increase from last year which saw 22 nominees from 80 reviewed films. This statistic does not mean much but it echoes the belief by many moviegoers that 2009 has been a better year for movies than 2008.
